Whispers of Worth- by Jess Hall

Freedom in Faith

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering… (Hebrews 10:23, KJV) What are we holding onto… Placing our focus on. Grasping with our minds. Grabbing with our hearts. Holding onto with tight control. So tight, we want and see nothing else. Filling every minute of every hour of every day. What are we holding onto… A spouse. A relationship. Physical intimacy. Alcohol/drugs. A job. A title. Gaining wealth, success, or fame. Beauty and a perfect image. What is whispering worth to our soul… Defining us. Giving us purpose. Giving us strength. Becoming our idol. Marriage became my idol. Marriage became my singular source of companionship and love. It blinded me to who I truly was, who I was created to be, who I could truly become. My sole identity was wife. My sole focus was husband. And then my marriage ended. And I floundered. And I fell…into the deep. I embraced the deserving darkness, sinking in despair, surrounded by depression, drowning in divorce. I gave up…and God reached down. "He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.” (Psalm 18:16) He drew me from the darkness and embraced me in His marvelous light. He filled me with His love. He set my feet on His solid rock and gave me a firm place to stand. With a small blossoming seed of faith, I took hold of His hand and found freedom. Freedom in faith. Freedom by placing Him first in my heart, mind, and soul. Focusing on Who He Was helped me find who I am. My uniqueness. My talents. My creativity. My likes, dislikes, desires, opinions...my worth...all came, not from a person or a title, but from acknowledging and accepting I was created by my Loving Heavenly Father to be a unique masterpiece- His precious child, loved unfailingly and unconditionally. I existed, not to save and serve my husband, but because Christ served and saved me. What are we holding onto… Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering…(Hebrews 10:23, KJV)

Take a long, loving look at Him. Take hold of our faith, trusting with confidence in Who He Is, placing Him first above anyone and everything. Be still, and know that I am God…(Psalm 46:10, NIV)

Look at Him. From that place deep inside of us, look at Him. Take hold of HIS strength. Let go of our struggles, of our insufficiency, and LET HIM...

Let Him reach us. Let Him hold us. Let Him forgive us. Let Him Love us.

Let HIM whisper worth to our soul.

Let being a Unique Child-of-God define us. Let our love for God give us purpose. Let God’s love for us give us strength.

Above anyone and everything in our life, in our heart, with faith, place Him first.
