"Renewed Through the Storm" by Jess Hall

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your Presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” (Psalms 51:10-12, NIV)

- Renew: “chadash”-to renew, repair (to be new; causatively, to rebuild…)

- Steadfast: “kun”-to be firm (certainty…faithfulness…be stable…)

- Restore: “shub”-to turn back, return

When troubles hit us, it is easy to get discouraged. Exhausted. Overwhelmed. Give up.

When we focus on everything going wrong, everything becomes wrong…even God.

The creator of the heavens and the earth. Who formed all our innermost parts and parted the Red Sea. Who shut the mouths of lions and opened the prison cell doors. Who promised to never fail us and love us unfailing.

Where is He?

When there is too much wrong?

He is there. Even there. Always there.

He promised to renew and restore…which means we WILL lose…

But, if our will becomes His own, He will sustain us.

Trust Him as we go through troubles. (Isaiah 41:10, 43:2, Psalm 23:4)

Through the fire “…do not be dismayed…”

Through the storm “…do not be overwhelmed…”

Through the valley “…do not fear…”

He is lifting our heads. Holding our hands. Healing our hearts.

Through it all…

Call out to His Name and hold fast to His Hand. (Psalm 91:14-16)

And no matter what this world takes from us, every morning let us wake with TRUST REBUILT and JOY RESTORED. Certain in our spirits of His unfailing love.
