The Height of Joy- by Jess Hall

“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, thought there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to go on the heights.” (Habakkuk 3:17-19, NIV)

Joyful in God.

Not in my circumstances.

Not in living pain-free and problem-less.

Not in my job or house, my family or spouse.

Joyful in God.

The source of all joy.

Accessible joy at all times.

Who lives in me.

Joyful in God.

The source of my strength.

Making my feet like a deer, enabling me to climb.

Over my rocky problems.

Up life’s slippery slope.

His power within, giving me confidence without.

God…my Savior.

For He is the One who rescues.

He is the One who delivers.

Until I finally stand secure at the top.

Rejoicing in Him, with Him.

Walking the mountain heights, His Hand in mine.

“You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your Presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11)
