Welcome God Home - by Jess Hall

"One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple." (Psalm 27:4, NIV)

David loved worshipping God and spending time in His Presence. In 2 Samuel 6:17, he built a temporary tabernacle to house the ark of the Lord. The ark where God's Presence resided on earth and where He came down from heaven to meet with mankind. (Exodus 25:22, 30:6, 36)

David's greatest desire was to dwell in the house of the Lord, in God's Presence, every day of his life. He wanted to build a majestic permanent temple on earth for God to reside in.

But God had greater plans. He knew four walls were temporary. One space was limiting. He wanted ALL people to have eternal access to Him. God wanted to meet us right where we were. Be with us each and every day.

So, He sent His Son, Christ Jesus, to be our last cleansing sacrifice and die on the cross. He sent His Holy Spirit to live within our hearts to daily comfort, teach, and help us stay close to Him.

Our faith in Who God is and what He has done for us through Christ opens our heart's door for Him to come in and reside. Our body becomes His temple. (1 Corinthians 6:19) Purified by His Son and sealed by His Spirit, we become a permanent place for His Presence. Today we are now able to live with Him each day and glorify Him for all eternity.

Now, let us take this one step further... If David, a man after God's own heart, (Acts 13:22) loved the house where God lived, (Psalm 26:8) shouldn't we do the same?

Every single person on this earth can become a temple for God's Spirit, and we are called to love them. (John 15:12) Honor them. (Romans 12:10) Help them. (Hebrews 13:16) Serve them. (Philippians 2:3-4) Let us teach those around us Who Christ is and be a witness to His love so that every single one of us may open up our heart's door and invite God to come home.

"I love the house where You live, O LORD, the place where Your glory dwells. (Psalm 26:8)
