I woke up the other day, feeling overwhelmed by the realities and limitations placed on society by the current global Covid-19 pandemic.
I was reminded of the millions that have already been infected, the tens of thousands who have died including those on the front-line, and the gravity of the hopelessness faced by millions...the lives forever altered and impacted from the current situation.
As I dragged myself to take a shower, I felt a still small voice, saying, “Begin to thank Me even in the little things.”
Reluctantly, I began thanking God for the daily blessings He bestows on us:
Provision of both hot & cold water to take a shower, including things like soap, sponges, and toothpaste etc.
As I poured water over my body, I found myself thanking Him for every functioning part of my being, and the fact that I was in good health to use those parts.
I continued to thank the Lord for the mundane things of life and snippets of His unending love, grace, strength, mercy, provision, protection and His patience and abiding presence.
I was reminded of the fact that God has not abdicated His throne, and He is sovereign over all and working behind the scene.
He brought to mind that-
....all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, NIV)
My perspective shifted as I broke into the doxology of (Romans 11:33-36):
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable His judgments,
and His paths beyond tracing out!
34
Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been His counselor?”
35
Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay them?
36
For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things.
To Him be the glory forever! Amen.
Lord, help us to always trust your heart even when we do not understand. Help us to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Enable us Lord, to continually offer to you a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of our lips through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Hebrews 13:5)
