The Joy Of Knowing- by Hajo Iya

The prosperity doctrine has misled many believers into thinking that when we confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, it is a happily ever after life with Jesus, free from all earthly troubles, pain, and disappointment. Contrary to this belief, when I surrendered my life to Jesus, my experience was different! For me, hell seemed to let loose once I made a commitment to surrender to and follow Jesus.

I experienced tragedy after tragedy:

The loss of loved ones including both parents, siblings, colleagues, and friends.

In addition, my dreams, goals, and aspirations were rearranged entirely by God without my permission.

Knowing the Lord does not mean we will not have problems, trials, or challenges.

The Lord promises His abiding presence with us during every trial, His peace which passes all understanding and the assurance of victory. (Philippians 4:7, Isaiah 26:3, Hebrews 13:5, NIV)

We live in a fallen world, and we groan along with creation waiting for our final redemption. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

True freedom is found in Christ alone. (John 8:36)

Having now walked with the Lord for decades, I understand what it means to experience the abundant life found in Jesus, including the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23)

I daily stand upon the promises of God; guaranteed in the Bible, knowing that God is faithful and true to His promises which are, “Yes and Amen in Jesus.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Take time, my friends to search scripture and claim God’s promises for your life. Believe by faith and not by sight, for God is not a man that He should lie, nor the son of man that He should change His mind. (2 Corinthians 5:7, Isaiah 59:1)
